Evaporator Boats - Our Competence No. 1

Our Centre of Competence (CoC) for evaporator boats is located in Schongau (Germany), and has more than 25 years experience in hotpressing and machining of ceramics.
Due to the demand of our customers and in line with our strategy to produce close to our customers, we manufacture boats in Europe, America and Asia.

Our production is highly flexible to produce boats specially designed to meet each customer's needs.

This is the foundation of our competence.

Our goal is to use the knowledge gained by working closely with metallisers in all sectors of the market to produce evaporator boats that are optimised for each application.

Manufacturing process of evaporator boats:

The basic raw materials, manufactured by Sintec, are boron nitride (BN) and Titanium Diboride (TiB₂). These powders form the
2-component Inter-Metallic-Composite (IMC), while Aluminium Nitride (AlN) is added for the 3-component material.

The powders are very accurately proportioned and mixed to obtain a correct and homogeneous resistivity and then charged to a carbon die and pressed at temperatures up to 2000°C.
The resultant billet of material is then machined into the required boat sizes and each boat is carefully controlled for resistivity and homogeneity.
After final inspection, the boats are sealed and packed for despatch.
